Make your home less of a target

Law enforcement will tell you there is NO WAY to prevent a determined burglar from getting into your house. Adding an effective deterrent like a home security system including outdoor security cameras may be one of the best ways to protect yourself, your family, and your home. Just look at some of these headlines, taken direct from the internet today.

Stay safe at home

It's clear that some kind of action is needed to keep your home safe these days. At least, it will certainly help with peace of mind. In looking for do-it-yourself solutions, the range of pricing is large. You could spend from $100 for a simple unit, perhaps including a "fake" detection unit. Or you could spend thousands of dollars on the latest motion detector gear, adding multiple cameras and recording switchers, plus all the hard wiring and power connections all these products require.

Home security systems are about presenting a barrier for the thief. The less accessible your home appears, the more likely you will be able to avoid an attack. Outdoor security cameras are one of the easiest to install and simplest ways to present a fortified appearance. Alarms don't bother thieves much. They can be in and out of your home with valuables in just a matter of moments. Motion detectors inside the home do much the same. They set off an alarm at the home and at the monitoring company. Unless law enforcement is directly in the area, the perp can be in and out with your stuff before anyone even notices there is a problem. Getting caught on camera and the potential to be identified from that device, now there is something burglars avoid. If you can plug something into a wall, you can setup your own home security system.

Here's a partial group of companies that provide equipment. Name brands include Sony, Honeywell, Logitech, GE, Panasonic, and Ademco. During your search of these companies, you'll want to look for wireless outdoor security cameras. The device will need to be able to "see" in low light, or low "lux" conditions. If the device is battery powered, even better, although A/C power is perfectly acceptable as well.

Once you've found the outdoor security cameras that can work, make sure you include the DVR or digital video recorder that will capture the video for you. Remember, our idea here is to convince the bad guy to go to another target. We need to look fierce. Don't try to fake it either. These guys can spot a fake a mile away.

After you've completed your homework and installed your system, relax. You've done the best you can to protect your belongings and your family.
